When we arrived in Udupi at the Krishna temple, we reached the gate where you view the diety from a side window, also called the Kanakana Kindi, a peephole. Just as I enquired from a gentleman behind us for the entrance to the temple, the gentleman said that he was a local and comes to the temple often, and he would take us in. According to him, locals who are regulars at the temple get easy and quick access, so we should wait for him and go along with him.

Peephole to view the deity

So we waited for him and then followed him, three of us, mumma, papa and I. He spoke to the gate keeper in Tamil or Kannada and soon enough took us inside. There were lines at different locations inside the temple for seeing different points and deities. He took us to each important place, where we didn’t have to wait much.

Thanks to him, without who we would not have known ways ways inside. We were able tovisit each deity and have, as they call it, good darshan.

Just as we reached the end, I looked for the gentleman around and couldn’t find him, thinking I had to pay him a fees for his services, as is customary in different tourist places. Also, I wanted to thank him for taking us in and giving us such great experience.

This note goes out in the Universe to him as a gratitude for what he did for us that day. Was he a miracle of God or just a plain nice citizen, a nice stranger. I don’t know, he was a Godsend for us for sure.
