As we are driving across the borders of Indian States, we are made aware of diversity of people and cultures. We crossed borders, now from Uttar Pradesh, to Haryana, to Rajasthan, to Gujarat, and now in Maharashtra. The people development is very low in Rajasthan 29 in India, one of the lowest in the country. However, we found the people most humble and friendly, in other words nice compared to any other state.
The national highways in Rajasthan were in a very good state, perhaps they are newer than other state highways. The roads so far are not very good in Haryana, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The quality deteriorates even further in the villages.

The scenic beauty experienced in each state starting with the colors that people wear in Rajasthan, to the mountains and valleys of Maharashtra and Gujarat. The other beauty is brought about by the historical places and architecture of what remains. I am awed by tha palaces in Rajasthan, and lakes, Jain temple in the mountains in Gujarat, Ellora caves, the Shiv temple and Shirdi in Maharashtra. I have been so enjoying the vegetarian food all across the states. We have now eaten in plenty of restaurants, temples and in the dhabas as well. My favorite restaurant is Kamat vegetarian, that we discovered in Shirdi.

If you have read my Ayawausca experience in the blog, it’s the vision of Shirdi that I saw in Colombia. We visited Shirdi temple in the morning yesterday. It was that beautiful, calming, smiling face that I saw there and saw it here as well. Everything in the town of Shirdi is named after Shirdi Sai Baba, as he is referred to.

I was not very happy to see children selling things outside of the Temples. These are children who are probably ten yrs old, both boys and girls. It saddens to see them not in school. There is definitely an opportunity to bring education to them. These are our future generations that are left without the opportunities that are available in the cities.
