Mexico Travel – Guadalajara, Jalisco

In Nov 2021 I traveled to Guadalajara, Mexico. Not understanding the language, per my daughter’s recommendation, I used the app Google Translate during the entire 5 week stay there.

Being a vegetarian, I had to find restaurants that catered to vegetarians. It was very kind of a friend of mine back home in the US whose sister came to rescue me in Guadalajara in finding options and became my translator on day 1.

The first week of the trip, I walked the downtown also known as Guadalajara Centro. It is a vibrant city with a lot of colors. The people, culture and the colors around reminded me so much of India. I blended in as one of their own, and on lot of occasions, the locals would speak with me in Spanish.

I used Uber for most of my local travels in the city, found a few Indian restaurants. It was typical of drivers to cancel the trip after 15 minutes of my ordering the ride, which did not give me a very good customer experience. this happened more often than not.

As I ventured to travel around the district of Jalisco, the hotel concierge found me a contact for a driver to take me to the newly found (only two decades ago), the circular pyramids. I decided to take a trip there and see how the meditation energies would be.

The pyramids was a beautiful place, with a nice museum and the youngster there was very passionate about the history and gave me a great run down on the history of the pyramids. When it came to enacting lunch, the driver, who did not speak English, took me to eat street food. It was one of the best vegetarian tacos I had eaten there.

Seeing me meditate, the driver offered to take me to a place called Foco Tonal, a place where the energies for meditations were very strong. Off we drove from there to Foco Tonal after spending the whole morning at the place.

The drive to the pyramids at Guachimontones had a lot of villages on the way, with a mix of sugarcane farming and the cactus used for making Taquila. The drive reminded me of driving to our village in India. I took a lot of pictures to send to papa and mumma in India.
