In Ajmer we went to the one and only Brahma temple in a nearby place at Pushkar. It was good to get a guide for only Rs. 200. He took us to the holy water square also called the ‘ghat’. Gave us a run down on the history on why this is the only Brahma temple.
We did not take a dip, but did see a lot of people doing with ablution, the purpose. I drained the holy stuff after the prayers, a.k.a puja.
The temple doors close between 1:30pm to 3pm, so we rushed at 1:15pm to go up to the temple for idol worship, and reached there on time, stood there praying for good 5mins or more. For me it was a great Indian experience. There were camel rides we saw on the way up to the temple, which is about one kilometer ride by the car.
The roads did not have dividers, so one has to be vigilant driving on these. We then drove to see mom’s cousin, who had recently met with an accident, where a drunk driver from Uber hit their car in the night. One of the rules I made in US that I continue to follow here in India as well. No Irving in night time. While I drive good 10ths in US, I decided not to drive longer than 6hrs in India.
I was amazed to see cousin’s daughter per, who had multiple leg fracture i circular rods pierced into the bones, walking, and not taking any drugs for pain. Spent couple hours and left for our night stay.
The city of Ajmer is located in a valley and is just gorgeous as you drive in from the mountains down hill into the valley.
